ARTYČOKE – a new space for artistic exploration and community

Artyčoke is a new art school born out of the need for a space dedicated to exploration, creation, expression, and community. It was created with different generations in mind – children, teenagers, and adults – who want to create with their hands, look more closely, discover art, and do things more slowly.
At Artyčoke, we learn how to draw, paint, sculpt, shape ceramics, print on textiles, and much more. We learn techniques, but we also allow things to happen beyond the rules. Imagination carries the same weight as knowledge, and the process is often more important than the result. Exploration is at the forefront – how something comes to be, what we feel along the way, how we connect with others and ourselves through material.
The school is led by Nevena Aleksovski – an artist and experienced art educator who has worked for many years at the intersection of art and education. Nevena believes in openness, in a space free of pressure and grades, and in creativity as a way of life, thinking, and connecting.
Artyčoke is not only a place to learn artistic skills. It is also a place of community – of gatherings, conversations, mistakes, and surprises. A space where art is not a privilege, but an everyday practice. Where we build relationships through materials, try new things, exchange experiences, connect, and take time for what truly matters to us.
At Artyčoke, we also love to collaborate with other artists, mentors, and collectives. With our “sister” Juha – a small porcelain school – we share a space in the old Tobačna factory, where we co-create various creative programs and discover the beautiful world of ceramics and porcelain together. We also invite outstanding artists and art educators to lead workshops – Miha Perne, Bojana Ristevski Mlaker, Adrijan Praznik, Maja Babič Košir, Lenka Đorojević, and many others.
You are warmly invited to join our art courses starting in September, held once a week for different age groups in our lovely studio at Tržaška cesta 2 (Stara Tobačna). If you’re looking for a space for creativity, exploration, and community – Artyčoke is the place for you!
